Mogador: The Historic Medina of Essaouira

Essaouira, formerly known as “Mogador”, is a historic port city on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. Built in the 18th century, its medina is known for its Portuguese-inspired fortifications, whitewashed houses, and blue-shuttered windows. Today, its UNESCO-listed medina, historic ramparts, and traditional fishing port preserve the city’s rich maritime heritage.
