6-Day Trip Through Northern & Southern Morocco

CASABLANCA ⤍ RABAT ⤍ CHEFCHAOUEN

Experience the attraction of northern Morocco on an unforgettable trip from Casablanca to Chefchaouen. Discover the history, culture, and landscapes of the country during your travel toward the charming Blue City and get to know the true Moroccan spirit and unique character of its ancient towns and villages.

Our first stop of the day will be Rabat, the capital city of Morocco and one of the country’s major cities, with great administrative, economic, and cultural significance. Upon arrival, we’ll begin exploring the city, including the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II, the Hassan Tower, one of the tallest minarets in the world. Then, Kasbah of the Udayas, known for its charming streets, traditional architecture, and stunning views over the Bou Regreg River and Atlantic Ocean. You’ll have free time for lunch at a restaurant in Rabat.

CHEFCHAOUEN ⤍ VOLUBILIS ⤍ MEKNES ⤍ FEZ

In the morning, you’ll enjoy a half-day tour of Chefchaouen with a local licensed guide, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit several historic landmarks in the town, including the Grand Mosque, the Kasbah, and the Ethnographic Museum.

Explore the town’s winding alleyways and colorful streets. You can wander through the blue-painted buildings, which provide a unique backdrop for photographs and a one-of-a-kind experience. The next stop of the day will be Volubilis, one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in North Africa and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

FEZ GUIDED TOUR WITH A LICENSED LOCAL GUIDE

Fez has been famous for its historic background, culture and architecture. This day tour is designed to allow you to visit the historic places in this city accompanied by your local guide. In the first place, your guide will accompany you to see some historic places in the city such as the Royal Palace which is the residence of the king of Morocco when he visits the city.

Then, we will move to the Panorama of Fez to give you a great panorama view of the Medina. And then, we will continue to the Pottery. Your guide will take you on foot to see many of the famous historic monuments inside the Medina.

The Medina of Fez was established in the 9th century and then, in 1981, it became a UNESCO heritage site. It is very famous because it has the oldest university in the world which is Al-Qarawiyyin. Discover many historic houses and buildings in this place and know about their stories and histories.

FEZ ⤍ IFRANE ⤍ CEDAR FOREST ⤍ ZIZ VALLEY ⤍ MERZOUGA DESERT

A tour from Fez to Merzouga offers spectacular landscapes, with the ultimate destination being the mesmerizing Sahara Desert dunes of Merzouga. In the morning, we’ll pick you up from your riad/hotel in Fez at 7:30 AM and drive to Merzouga. The first stop of the day will be Ifrane, a city known for its beautiful landscapes, clean streets, and European-style architecture. It is often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its resemblance to Swiss towns, with its alpine-style houses and snowy winters.

Next, we’ll drive to the Cedar Forest, which provides a habitat for a variety of wildlife, including the endangered Barbary macaques. Lunch will be at a nice restaurant in Midelt. Later, after a drive along the foothills of the Ziz Valley Mountains, you’ll enjoy the mesmerizing landscapes of the valley. We’ll stop for a cup of coffee at the peak of the mountain, where you can admire a wonderful panoramic view of the Ziz Valley.

Once we arrive in Merzouga, you’ll end your day with a camel ride to the desert camp. The ride takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, including a stop to relax and enjoy the sunset over the dunes. You’ll spend the night in a fully equipped Berber desert camp, where you’ll enjoy traditional local folk songs performed by local musicians. Enjoy a traditional dinner under the stars and spend the night in the desert camp.

MERZOUGA DESERT ⤍ RISSANI ⤍ TODRA GORGES ⤍ ROSES VALLEY ⤍ SKOURA OASIS

In the morning, enjoy a memorable climb up the dunes to watch the sunrise (optional). Then, return to the camp for a warm, traditional breakfast before setting off towards the Dades Valley.

Our first stop will be Rissani, a historic desert town known for its lively traditional souk. Take some time to explore the local market, see the variety of products on offer, and experience the authentic atmosphere of this southern Moroccan town.

We’ll then continue towards the Todra Gorges, famous for their dramatic limestone cliffs rising up to around 300 meters. Surrounded by impressive rock formations and beautiful scenery, the gorges are a wonderful place to take a walk and enjoy the natural landscape.

Lunch will be at a local restaurant in the Todra Valley before we continue towards the Valley of Roses. Known for its beautiful rose fields and scenic landscapes, the valley lies between the High Atlas and Anti-Atlas Mountains. In May, the area comes alive during the annual Rose Festival, when the fragrant Damask roses are harvested.

We’ll then continue to Skoura Oasis, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

SKOURA OASIS ⤍ AMRIDIL KASBAH ⤍ ATLAS STUDIOS ⤍ AÏT BENHADDOU KASBAH ⤍ HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS ⤍ MARRAKECH

Following breakfast, we’ll begin our journey towards Marrakech. Our first stop will be the famous Kasbah of Amridil in Skoura Oasis, one of Morocco’s best-preserved historic kasbahs. Take some time to explore its traditional architecture and learn about the history and way of life of the people who once lived here. From there, we’ll head to Ouarzazate and visit Atlas Studios, one of the world’s largest film studios. You’ll have the opportunity to explore the historic sets and discover locations used in various famous films and TV productions.

Later, we’ll continue to Aït Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 and one of Morocco’s most famous historical landmarks. We’ll stop for lunch and have some time to explore this remarkable fortified village. Once an important stop along the ancient caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara, Aït Benhaddou is known for its earthen architecture and has featured in numerous films and TV series, including Gladiator and Game of Thrones.

Our journey then continues through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass at an altitude of 2,260 meters. We’ll make a short stop along the way to enjoy the mountain views, take photos, and stretch our legs. Finally, we’ll arrive in Marrakech and drop you off at your riad/hotel.
