  • 1st Day (368km): High Atlas Mountains, UNESCO Heritage & Draa Valley
    MARRAKESH ⤍ AÏT BENHADDOU ⤍ DRAA VALLEY ⤍ ZAGORA

    On a three-day trip to Erg Chigaga, you’ll enjoy some of the best views of Berber villages and historical kasbahs, while also experiencing desert life with the local population. We’ll pick you up from your hotel and depart for Zagora via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, at an altitude of 2,260 meters. On the way, we’ll stop for a cup of coffee. The trip will then continue south. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and Berber villages as we head towards Aït Benhaddou, where we’ll stop for lunch.

    Aït Benhaddou is a historic and one of the best-preserved kasbahs in southern Morocco. It is a fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The site has also been used as a filming location for several famous movies and TV series, including Gladiator, The Mummy, The Message, Black Hawk Down, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones.

    Our next stop of the day will be Zagora, a pleasant stopping point for journeys into southern Morocco. This trip will give you a unique perspective on this fascinating region.

  • 2nd Day (154km): Tamegroute Heritage, Desert Oases & Erg Chigaga
    ZAGORA ⤍ TAMEGROUTR ⤍ M'HAMID ⤍ ERG CHIGAGA DESERT
    (56km Through the Sand Track)

    Zagora is famous for its incredible palm grove and unique sites of interest. After breakfast, we’ll move to Tamgroute village, where you’ll visit the famous Quranic Library, the subterranean Kasbah, and the pottery workshop. The Quranic Library is part of the Zaouïa Naciria and contains more than 4,000 books. It was founded in the 17th century by the elders of the Zaouïa Naciria.

    Next, we’ll take a short walk to the subterranean Kasbah, where you’ll have a photo opportunity. Then, we’ll visit the pottery workshop, where pottery is completely handmade using traditional methods. This craft has been inherited by the local people from their grandparents. We’ll then proceed to El Mhamid, the last oasis of the Draa Valley before entering the Sahara and reaching the Erg Chigaga dunes. We’ll have lunch at a local restaurant.

    Next, we’ll continue our journey to our final stop, travelling along the sand track to Erg Chigaga. Once we arrive, you’ll meet the camel driver and enjoy a camel trek as the sun sinks below the horizon. The desert landscapes, sand dunes, friendly people, and peaceful atmosphere all make Erg Chigaga an ideal place to relax after the long journey. Watch the magnificent sunset and take pictures of these beautiful views in the heart of the dunes.

    Enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night at the Berber camp.

  • 3rd Day (373km): Desert Sunrise, Paris-Dakar Road & Scenic Return to Marrakech

    In the morning, you’ll wake up early (optional) to see the amazing sunrise above the sand dunes, then return to the camp for a typical breakfast and check out.

    Next, we’ll continue our journey to Foum Zguid village via Lake Iriqui, following the Paris-Dakar road. En route, we’ll make stops at various wonderful landscapes. Lunch will be in the Berber village of Tazenakht. Then, we’ll travel through the high mountains on our way back to your hotel/riad in Marrakech.
