17-Day Grand Tour of Morocco

ARRIVAL AT CASABLANCA AIRPORT (CMN)

Welcome to Morocco! Your guide will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Casablanca.

CASABLANCA ⤍ EL JADIDA ⤍ OUALIDIA

Following breakfast, we will set off for a sightseeing tour of Casablanca, including the magnificent Hassan II Mosque, which is one of the landmarks of Morocco, located on the Atlantic Ocean. Then we will walk along the Casablanca Corniche, where we will admire the views of the ocean and stroll through one of the most pleasant parts of the city by the sea. Then, we will visit Habous quarter that has an amazing architectural style of Morocco, picturesque streets and shops.

Afterwards, we will leave Casablanca and travel to El Jadida that is a historical city known for its architecture with Portuguese colonial features. Then we will have lunch with delicious seafood and specialities. Further on, we will go to see Cisterns of El Jadida and visit the medina. Then, we will leave the city and travel to Oualidia, a quaint city by the seaside that is famous for its beautiful lagoon and oysters farms.

OUALIDIA ⤍ SAFI ⤍ ESSAOUIRA

For today, we leave Oualidia behind and begin our journey along the picturesque Moroccan coastline toward the coastal town of Safi, famous for its unique blue pottery and historical significance. In Safi, we discover the city’s main highlights, including the old medina, the historic quarter of the pottery makers, and the fortifications built by the Portuguese. Following this, we continue our picturesque journey toward Essaouira.

Once we arrive in Essaouira, there will be an opportunity to have lunch before you make your way to explore the city. First, you will visit the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover some of its landmarks, including the bustling souk with its merchant streets, the Gates of the Medina, and the impressive Sqala du Port. Our sightseeing also takes us to the city’s ramparts, with their platform and cannons overlooking the ocean. Don’t forget to enjoy the wonderful seaside views and savor some of the best seafood the area has to offer.

ESSAOUIRA ⤍ AGADIR

Today, we depart Essaouira and begin our journey south toward Agadir, enjoying the scenic coastal landscapes along the way. Once we arrive in Agadir, we have lunch at a local restaurant before setting out for an afternoon of sightseeing around Agadir.

Our first stop is Agadir Oufella, also known as the Agadir Kasbah, which boasts panoramic views of Agadir and the Atlantic Ocean. After that, we head to the marina area, where there are cafés and restaurants. Take some time to relax on the sandy beaches .

AGADIR ⤍ TIZNIT ⤍ LEGZIRA ⤍ SIDI IFNI

After breakfast, we leave Agadir and head south for Tiznit, a well-known old city famous especially for its silver jewelry with many shops selling designs and patterns that have been made traditionally by the Berbers. We then visit the old medina of Tiznit and experience the traditional atmosphere of the town.

Next, we head towards Legzira, famous for its impressive red stone arches and cliffs forming a striking contrast against the blue Atlantic Ocean. Take some time to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the coast. Then, we continue to Sidi Ifni, a pretty coastal town famous for its beaches, relaxed atmosphere, and Art Deco buildings. Spend some time visiting the town and enjoying the beautiful scenery along the Atlantic coast.

SIDI IFNI ⤍ TAFRAOUTE

Today, we’ll leave Sidi Ifni and head inland towards Tafraoute, crossing the beautiful Anti-Atlas Mountains. Along the way, enjoy the changing scenery, with rugged mountain landscapes, quiet valleys, and small villages along the route.

Once we reach Tafraoute, we’ll take some time to explore this charming mountain town, surrounded by the distinctive pink granite formations of the Anti-Atlas. You’ll have the opportunity to discover the local atmosphere, learn more about the area’s Berber heritage, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

After the visit, we’ll check in at your riad/hotel in Tafraoute and enjoy a relaxing evening.

TAFRAOUTE ⤍ TIZOURGANE KASBAH ⤍ TAROUDANT

Today, the tour from Tafraoute to Taroudant takes us through panoramic views of the rugged terrain and fertile valleys of Morocco’s Anti-Atlas Mountains. Our first stop of the day is Tizourgane Kasbah, an 18th-century fortress known for its traditional architecture and stunning views. This well-preserved kasbah provides an interesting insight into Berber culture and the traditional way of life in the region.

After the visit, we continue our journey to Taroudant, enjoying the beautiful landscapes along the way. Upon arrival in Taroudant, we explore this charming historic town, known for its traditional atmosphere and impressive city walls.

TAROUDANT ⤍ TIZI N'TEST ⤍ OUIRGANE VALLEY ⤍ MARRAKECH

The day’s tour will be to Marrakesh via the High Atlas Mountains. During this trip, we climb up to the Tizi n’Test Pass (2,093m) that offers some wonderful sights of sharp peaks and valleys.

As we continue our journey, we cross the Ouirgane Valley, dotted with charming Berber villages, lush agricultural land, and beautiful mountain scenery. The landscape gradually changes as we make our way through the High Atlas, offering spectacular panoramic views along the route.

Finally, we reach Marrakesh, the dynamic city of red color which is famous for its medina, souks, palaces, and culture.

MARRAKECH GUIDED TOUR WITH A LICENSED LOCAL GUIDE

This tour will give you the opportunity to visit some of the most significant places from a historical and cultural point of view in Marrakesh with the guidance of your local guide. First of all, we pay a visit to the Bahia Palace, the most beautiful palace in the city built at the end of the 19th century.

Then, we proceed to the Saadian Tombs, which are dated at the end of the 16th century. Further, we visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa, which is an Islamic school founded in the 14th century by Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf. Later on, we visit the narrow streets of Medina till Jemaa el-Fna Square where you can see all this bustling place and buy different products including local crafts, jewelry and other Moroccan products for any taste.

Jemaa el-Fna Square is the central square of the city, which is an entrance to the souks. Local merchants meet here to present and sell their goods. You will have the chance to enjoy lunch tasting the delicious food of the place when you get hungry. Afterward, we head to the Majorelle Garden, a famous botanical garden designed by French painter Jacques Majorelle in the early 20th century. The garden is now associated with fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, Pierre Bergé.

MARRAKECH ⤍ HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS ⤍AÏT BENHADOU KASBAH ⤍ ROSES VALLEY ⤍ DADES VALLEY

Today, we start from Marrakech and drive towards Dades Valley through the amazing High Atlas Mountains. First, we stop at the Tizi n’Tichka Mountain Pass (2,260 m) where we can see impressive panoramic views of the majestic mountains, deep valleys, and lovely Berber villages. We stop briefly to enjoy the landscapes, take nice pictures and rest.

We continue towards the Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage since 1987 and one of the most popular landmarks of Morocco. After arrival it is time for lunch and the chance to have a wonderful meal. The Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou is a historic fortified village and an important place on the old caravan route from Marrakesh to Sahara. This place has been used in such famous films as Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Message and the widely recognized TV show Game of Thrones.

Then we move on towards the Kalaat M'Gouna, which is also called Rose town, known for its rose production. Every year, during May in Kalaat M'Gouna takes place the Rose Festival, which is a wonderful event celebrating the local rose harvest. This place provides valuable information on the local Berber traditions and culture. In addition, we make our way to the Dades Valley with breathtaking views and old villages on the way there. Once we reach the valley, appreciate the stunning views and dramatic rock and mountain landscapes surrounding the area.

DADES VALLEY ⤍ TODRA GORGES ⤍ ERFOUD ⤍ MERZOUGA DESERT

After having breakfast, we move out of the Dades Valley and drive towards the Sahara Desert. Our first stop on this day is Todra Gorges, , is a lovely stop along the route to the Sahara desert, and features high limestone cliffs rising up to 300m. The landscape of this place even in summer leaves a deep impression. Lunch in the local restaurant at Tinejdad.

Next, we drive toward Merzouga, where you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy fascinating panoramic views of the high sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. Once we arrive, you will meet the camel driver, who will take you to the desert camp where you will spend the night in a traditional Berber camp in Erg Chebbi.

Enjoy the wonderful views as the sun sets over the sand dunes, followed by a traditional dinner under the stars, accompanied by the beat of local traditional folk music and dancing around the campfire.

MERZOUGA ⤍ NOMAD FAMILY ⤍ TOUR OF THE DUNES ⤍ KHAMLIA ⤍ HASSI LABIED OASIS

Today, we’ll set out to explore the Merzouga Desert by 4×4, discovering its landscapes and getting a closer look at local desert life. Our first stop will be with a nomadic family who continue to follow many of their traditional customs. Spend some time with them, learn about their way of life, and, depending on the season and daily activities, you may have the chance to see how they prepare traditional bread or care for their goats.

We’ll then continue to Khamlia Village, home to the Gnawa people, whose African roots and cultural traditions are closely connected to music and dance. Take some time to enjoy the local atmosphere and experience the distinctive rhythms of Gnawa music.

Our final stop will be Hassi El Bid Oasis, a peaceful green oasis surrounded by the vast desert landscape. Take a walk among the palm trees, enjoy the quiet surroundings, and appreciate the contrast between the lush oasis and the golden dunes.

After the visit, we’ll return to Merzouga, where you’ll spend the night at your riad/hotel.

MERZOUGA DESERT ⤍ RISSANI ⤍ ZIZ VALLEY ⤍ MIDELT ⤍ CEDAR FOREST ⤍ IFRANE ⤍ FEZ

In the early morning, you’ll climb the dunes upwards to watch the sunrise. Memorable experience! Return to the camp for a typical breakfast. Then, we depart for Rissani, a historic town known for its traditional souks, authentic atmosphere, and rich cultural heritage. Explore the local market, where you can discover a variety of traditional products, handicrafts, spices, and local goods.

Next, we continue our tour toward Ziz Valley, driving along the foothills of Ziz valley Mountains to Fez, enjoying the mesmerizing landscape of the valley. We’ll stop for a cup of coffe at the peak of the mountain, seeing a wonderful panoramic view of Ziz valley.

The next stop of the day, Midelt, nestled between the High Atlas and Middle Atlas mountain ranges. The town is known for its picturesque landscapes and beautiful mountain scenery. Once we arrive, it will be time for lunch, where you can enjoy a memorable meal.

Later, we drive to the Cedar Forest, which provides a natural habitat for a variety of wildlife, including the endangered Barbary macaques. Then, we continue to Ifrane City, which is known for its beautiful landscapes, clean streets, and European-style architecture. its often known as Switzerland of Morocco due to its resemblance to Swiss towns with its alpine-style houses and snowy winters.

FEZ GUIDED TOUR WITH A LICENSED LOCAL GUIDE

This guided tour will give you the opportunity to explore one of Morocco’s most famous imperial cities. In the morning, you’ll meet our local guide at your riad/hotel, and we’ll drive to the Royal Palace, founded in 1276 by Abu Yusuf Yaqub. Next, we head to the Panorama of Fez, where you’ll enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Medina. After that, we visit the Pottery, Bab Bou Jeloud, and the Chouara Tannery.

Afterward, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the Medina, where you will visit many famous historical monuments. The Medina was founded in the 9th century and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981. It is also famous for being home to the world’s oldest university, Al-Qarawiyyin. Take in the beautiful historic buildings and traditional homes while discovering their stories and the rich history of the Medina.

FEZ ⤍ VOLUBILIS ⤍ CHEFCHAOUEN

Today, we’ll leave Fez and head toward Chefchaouen. Our first stop of the day is Volubilis, an impressive archaeological site featuring the ruins of the ancient Roman Empire. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with origins dating back to the 3rd century BC. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the ruins and discover the history of this remarkable site.

Next, we continue our journey toward Chefchaouen, also known as the “Blue Pearl,” famous for its blue-painted buildings, which give the town a unique and distinctive appearance. The town has a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, with many small cafés and restaurants where you can enjoy traditional Moroccan cuisine.

There are also several historic landmarks in the town, including the Grand Mosque, the Kasbah, and the Ethnographic Museum. You can also explore the town’s winding alleyways and colorful streets. Wander through the blue-painted buildings, which provide a unique backdrop for photographs and create a truly memorable experience.

CHEFCHAOUEN ⤍ RABAT

Today, we’ll pick you up from your riad/hotel and drive toward Rabat. Following we arrive, it will be time for lunch before beginning our exploration of the city. Later, we visit some of Rabat’s most important historical monuments, including, the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V, Hassan Tower, which is known to be one of the most iconic minarets in the world, and the Kasbah of the Udayas.

The Kasbah of the Udayas is a historic fortress constructed in the 12th century. The Kasbah is famous for its lovely blue and white buildings, narrow streets, and the view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Bou Regreg River.
