The Ultimate 10-Day Morocco Itinerary

ARRIVAL AT CASABLANCA (CMN) AIRPORT

Welcome to Morocco! Your driver will pick you up from the airport (CMN) and transfer you to your hotel in Casablanca.

CASABLANCA ⤍ RABAT ⤍ CHEFCHAOUEN

In the morning, your driver will pick you up from your hotel to visit Casablanca. It is a hub for industry and finance. Visit the spectacular Hassan II Mosque, situated directly on the oceanfront. It is the largest mosque in Africa, built in the modern era. After that, take a pleasant walk on the Corniche Boulevard, which features beautiful palm-lined walkways and views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Next, we’ll drive towards Rabat. It is the capital city of Morocco and one of the country's major cities, holding significant administrative, economic, and cultural importance. Following our arrival, we’ll begin to discover the city, including the magnificent Mausoleum of Mohammed V and Hassan II, Hassan Tower, one of the largest minarets in the world, and the Royal Palace. Free time for lunch at a restaurant in Rabat before driving to our last destination, Chefchaouen.

CHEFCHAOUEN ⤍ VOLUBILIS ⤍ MEKNES ⤍ FEZ

Today, you will have a half-day tour of Chefchaouen with a local guide, where you’ll have the opportunity to visit several historic landmarks in the town, including the Grand Mosque, the Kasbah, and the Ethnographic Museum,, along with its markets, and local artisans.

Explore the town’s winding alleyways and colorful streets. You can wander through the town’s blue-painted buildings, which provide a unique backdrop for photographs and a one-of-a-kind experience.

The next stop of the day is Volubilis. It is one of the best-preserved Roman archaeological sites in North Africa and has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

FEZ GUIDED TOUR WITH A LICENSED LOCAL GUIDE

This guided tour offers the opportunity to explore the city’s most important historical sites with a local guide, including the Royal Palace, the official residence of the King of Morocco when he visits the city. Next, we’ll head towards the Panorama of Fez, where you’ll enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the Medina, we will also visit the Pottery.

Afterward, your guide will organize a walking tour of the Medina, visiting its many famous historical monuments. The Medina of Fez was founded in the 9th century and was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1981. It is famous for being home to the world’s oldest university, Al-Qarawiyyin. Take in the beautiful historic buildings and homes while discovering their stories in the Medina.

FEZ ⤍ IFRANE ⤍ CEDAR FOREST ⤍ ZIZ VALLEY ⤍ MERZOUGA DESERT

In the morning, after breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel in Fez at 8:00 AM for your journey to Merzouga. Our first stop is Ifrane, known for its beautiful landscapes, clean streets, and European-style architecture. It is often referred to as the "Switzerland of Morocco" for its alpine-style houses and snowy winters.

Next, we’ll drive to the Cedar Forest, which is home to diverse wildlife, including the endangered Barbary macaques. Lunch will be at a charming restaurant in Midelt. Afterward, we’ll drive along the foothills of the Ziz Valley Mountains, taking in the stunning scenery. We’ll stop at a mountain peak for coffee and panoramic views of the Ziz Valley.

Once we arrive in Merzouga, you'll enjoy a camel ride to the desert camp, which takes about 1 to 1.5 hours, including a break to relax and watch the sunset over the dunes. Spend the night in a well-equipped Berber camp, enjoy traditional folk songs, and savor a traditional dinner under the stars.

MERZOGA DESERT ⤍ RISSANI ⤍ TODRA GORGES ⤍ DADES VALLEY

In the morning, you’ll enjoy a memorable experience as you climb the dunes to watch the sunrise (optional). Then, return to the camp to enjoy a warm, traditional breakfast. Next, depart for the authentic south, heading towards the Dades Valley. Our first stop of the day is Rissani Town, where you'll visit one of the oldest and most authentic traditional markets in the country, with a rich history dating back several centuries.

Next, we continue our drive to Todra Dades. It’s a lovely stop along the route to the Sahara Desert and features high limestone cliffs rising up to 300 meters. The landscape of this place leaves a deep impression, even in summer.

Lunch will be at a local restaurant in Todra Valley. Later, we’ll drive to Monkey Fingers, a spectacular rock formation in the Dades Valley, known for its unique shapes and stunning landscapes. The last stop of the day is the winding road in Dades. It’s a gorge carved out by the Dades River, which separates the Atlas Mountains from the Anti-Atlas Mountains.

DADES VALLEY ⤍ ROSES VALLEY ⤍ ATLAS STUDIO ⤍ AÏT BENHADDOU KASBAH ⤍ HIGH ATLAS MOUNTAINS ⤍ MARRAKECH

After having breakfast, we will go for our ride towards Marrakesh. The first destination of the day will be Kalaat M'Gouna or the valley of roses, which will give you insight into the Berber culture and way of life. This town is well-known because of its rose plantations. Every year, in May, there is the Rose Festival in Kalaat M'Gouna. Then, we will continue to the next destination which is Atlas Studios. It is one of the biggest studios in the whole world where many productions were made.

Finally, our last destination will be Kasbah of Aït Benhaddou. It is a kasbah with fortified buildings that used to be a main stop along the ancient caravan route between Marrakech and the Sahara Desert. There were many movies shot in this place like Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Message, and the latest Game of Thrones series. The last part of our tour will be crossing the Tizi n’Tichka mountain pass at the height of 2,260 meters.

MARRAKECH GUIDED TOUR WITH A LICENSED LOCAL GUIDE

Today, you will get a chance to explore the Medina as well as other historical sites in Marrakech with a locally licensed guide, including the Saadian Tombs, mausoleums that house the remains of important figures from the Saadian Dynasty. Then, visit the Ben Youssef Madrasa, one of the most famous schools in Morocco, named after the Almoravid Sultan Ali ibn Yusuf. Next, visit the Bahia Palace, which was built in the 19th century.

You’ll be able to admire these important historical monuments, and you can also walk freely through the narrow alleyways of the Medina. Next, head towards Jemaa El-Fna Square, an open space in the Medina where local people come to sell their wares. Your tour continues with a local guide to the Majorelle Garden, named after its creator, French artist Jacques Majorelle. It was designed in 1923.

MARRAKECH ⤍ ESSAOUIRA

In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel/riad and drive towards Essaouira. Our first stop of the day is Sidi Mokhtar town, where we will make a stop for some local morning refreshments. Before arriving at the last stop of the day, we will first take you to the Argan tree forest, where you might catch a glimpse of some goats climbing the branches of the Argan trees. Following our arrival, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of Essaouira and get a great look at the Medina before exploring it on foot.

The Medina of Essaouira, known as Mogador, became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001. In the shade of these walls, you’ll have time to explore the Medina’s famous historical monuments and ruins, such as the Medina souk, which offers you a stroll through the lanes of merchants, the Gates of the Medina, Sqala du Port, and the city’s ramparts. By the sea, there’s a platform with cannons pointing out towards the ocean. You’ll also have the opportunity to taste the local seafood at its best.
